Doherty's SMU Mustangs top Lebo's ECU Pirates

SMU (14-8, 5-3) won its fourth Conference USA game in a row, and it needs to win one more game to assure itself of the most victories in five seasons under coach Matt Doherty. The Mustangs, who shot 30.4 percent in the first half, took off on a 23-6 surge during the final 14:02. East Carolina (12-10, 4-4) couldn’t make a field goal in that stretch and managed only six free throws. (Dallas Morning News)
