Lee Dedmon enjoys seeing Dean Smith, 40-year NIT title reunion


The guest of honor didn’t make Saturday’s official celebration, but members of the 1971 UNC NIT championship team didn’t mind. Lee Dedmon was a starting center on a team that was called legendary coach Dean Smith’s “first national championship team” by emcee and Tar Heels broadcaster Woody Durham during a ceremony at halftime of Saturday’s UNC-Boston College game.
