Minus coach, Tar Heels stay steady in NCAA opener

Freshman Kent Emanuel’s NCAA Tournament debut was flawless and the North Carolina pitcher had an early lead to work with as the Tar Heels opened regional competition with a 4-0 victory against Maine on Friday night at Boshamer Stadium. “I wanted to treat it like any normal game,” Emanuel said.
