Tar Heels prevail in Super Regional opener

North Carolina held on this afternoon to defeat Stanford 5-2 in the first round of the Chapel Hill Super Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament. Seth Baldwin hit a two-run homer for UNC in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 3-0 lead. Stanford scored twice in the top of the eighth, getting its runs on three hits. (Winston-Salem Journal)
