Tar Heels soccer coach reaches special status

When North Carolina won the NCAA Tournament for men’s soccer, it put first-year coach Carlos Somoano in rare territory. Somoano became only the second coach in NCAA history to claim a national title in his first year. The other was Mike Freitag with Indiana in 2004. North Carolina junior Ben Speas was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player for the tournament. (Burlington Times News)
