In an attempt to try to prepare his squad for how quickly UNC’s big guys can get ahead of a fast break, Appalachian State coach Jason Capel had team managers start sprinting at half-court during practice last week. Then he told his players, beginning from the baseline, to try to catch them. “But nothing can prepare you for a 7-footer running that fast,’’ the former Tar Heels forward said after his team lost 97-82 at the Smith Center.
