1. UNC football scandal: The Tar Heels’ trouble with the NCAA tops the charts for the second straight year. Given the fact that we’re still waiting for the final word on sanctions, there’s a good chance this story will continue well into 2012. The events of this year heated up on June 21, when the NCAA issued a notice of allegations that included nine major violations.
