Maryland women earn OT win at North Carolina


Tianna Hawkins grabbed a missed free throw and scored with 1:49 left in overtime to help No. 5 Maryland beat No. 25 North Carolina 78-72 on Sunday. Hawkins' putback gave the Terrapins a 73-72 lead, and they held on from there. Chay Shegog led North Carolina with 20 points. The Tar Heels led 66-60 after a driving bank shot by Tierra Ruffin-Pratt with 1:29 to go. (Raleigh News & Observer)
