Andrew Carignan aims to make A’s roster out of spring training

Oakland’s closer last season, Andrew Bailey, was traded to Boston as a potential replacement for Jonathan Papelbon. That leaves the Athletics with a host of players vying for the spot, including seasoned veterans Brian Fuentes and Grant Balfour. Carignan could be included in that list. “It’s obviously an opportunity,” Carignan said Friday.
