9. Larry Fedora, North Carolina (First Year) After learning from two of the best in the business — Bobby Bowden at Florida State and Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State — Fedora got his first head coaching job at Southern Miss in 2008. Fedora led the Eagles to a Conference USA championship in 2011 after a major upset of then-unbeaten Houston. He took USM to a bowl game in all four of his seasons in Hattiesburg.
