Hobbled Heels can’t get over the Elite Eight hump

The name on the front of the white jerseys of the team that lost Sunday’s NCAA Midwest Region championship game to Kansas 80-67 might have said “North Carolina.” But it wasn’t close to resembling the Tar Heel team it once was. Its top three guards were all on the bench in street clothes because of injuries. Its best defensive player was hobbling around because of a sprain ankle, that is, when he wasn’t grimacing because of a painful wrist. (Wilmington Star News)
