Junior-college standout will join Heels next year

One junior-college football player has joined North Carolina’s 2008 recruiting class, but another has had second thoughts and has withdrawn his commitment. Melvin Williams, a 6-0, 200-pound defensive back, is headed to North Carolina from Coffeyville (Kan.) College. One of his teammates, Nathan Guillory, a 5-10, 180-pound tailback, changed his mind about playing for North Carolina a day after committing. (Winston-Salem Journal)
