UNC Football Recruiting Week in Review
UNC football recruiting recap for the week ending April 22, 2012.
-UNC's 2013 football recruiting class is
currently ranked 12th nationally despite the recent NCAA sanctions.
-
Ryan Switzer, a 2013 UNC commit and multiple offensive threat, has been
invited to the Semper Fidelis All-American game in Los Angeles. Switzer's team also won the New Level Athletics 7-on-7 tournament in Pittsburgh over the weekend.
-2013 4-star offensive lineman and top UNC target
Tyrone Crowder is
still weighing his options and has no favorites.
-Top 2013 QB prospect
Connor Mitch from Raleigh
seems to be favoring South Carolina.
-Two new athletic quarterbacks have emerged on UNC's recruiting board:
Chavas Rawlins and
Sam Craft. Rawlins visited UNC on March 29th, but there are mixed reports on where UNC stands with him.
This report has UNC out of his top-5, while other reports list UNC in contention for his services.
Craft is a two sport standout in football and basketball, and he
hopes to play both in college. It's unclear whether this helps or hurts UNC's chances. Here's his football
highlight video.
-UNC fan site Keeping it Heel did
a nice interview with 2013 offensive tackle commit
R.J. Prince.
-Top defensive end target
Lewis Neal from Wilson, NC
committed to Ohio State on Monday. Former UNC interim head coach
Everett Withers, now at OSU, is clearly leveraging his relationships with NC prospects to lure them out of state.
-Raleigh (Millbrook) wide receiver and UNC target
Corey Cooper loved his visit to Clemson over the weekend and will visit Georgia Tech this weekend.
-UNC prospects
Keeon Johnson,
Johnathan Alston,
Khris Francis (UNC commit),
Korrin Wiggins (UNC commit), and
Tyquan Lewis participated at the NC Shrine Bowl Combine recently. Johnson ran 4.37 40-yard dash. Here's a brief
workout video.
-And also some interviews with UNC commit
Khris Francis, targets
Tyquan Lewis and
Tyrone Crowder from the
Shrine Bowl Combine.
That's it for this week. Please feel free to send us your feedback or questions for next week's recap. We'd like to make this a regular feature if the response is positive.
