QB Carlis Parker commits to Virginia Tech

Carlis Parker, a 6-foot-4, 186-pound quarterback from Statesville High in Statesville, N.C., committed Monday to Virginia Tech. He gives the Hokies two big quarterback commitments for the class of 2013 in a three-day span. Parker, who is Tech’s 10th commitment for the ’13 class, also had scholarship offers from North Carolina State, UNC, East Carolina, Duke and Georgia State. He’s considered by most recruiting analysts to be among the nation’s top 60 quarterback prospects.
