‘Carolina Family’ taught basketball manager to value each person

It’s a much more common sight nowadays with North Carolina basketball, but in the early 1980s, Jan Webster (formerly Jan Baldwin) was broaching new territory for young women by making the cut as a JV and then varsity manager for the Tar Heels. “For me, the experience was actually very comfortable because I played sports and I loved basketball, particularly Carolina,” Webster said of being a manager.
