ACC In The Majors, August 1
Posted Aug 1, 2012
Former Tar Heel Matt Harvey had an electric debut for the Mets, striking out 11, giving up only three hits and hitting a single and a double. He set the franchise record for strikeouts in a debut, and he’s the first pitcher since 1900 to get two hits and strike out more than 10 in his first game. For his performance, Harvey earned the Big Apple Player of the Week award.
