Rivalry recap: Bottom Three State Losses

Sept. 29, 1990: NC State 12, Carolina 9. Factor in that in the previous two years--both of which were 1-10 campaigns for the Tar Heels--State had beaten Carolina by a combined score of 88-9. State won 48-3 in 1988 and 40-6 in 1989. Beating the Wolfpack was a priority in 1990, when it felt like was starting to turn the corner with the program. (Tar Heel Monthly)
