North Carolina routs Chaminade in Maui third-place game

North Carolina on Wednesday ended its appearance in the Maui Invitational just as it began: With a dominant victory against an overmatched opponent. But that victory didn’t secure the Tar Heels’ fourth Maui Invitational championship in their past four trips here. Instead, after a disappointing loss against Butler on Tuesday, the Heels had to settle for an 112-70 victory against Chaminade in the consolation game. (Raleigh News & Observer)
