Heart of a champion

Defending champion North Carolina dominated possession in its NCAA Tournament opener last week against Maryland-Baltimore County, but still needed penalty kicks to advance following a scoreless tie. So the Tar Heels worked on finishing this week. Cameron Brown converted a pass from Rob Lovejoy 90 seconds into overtime, giving No. 9 UNC a 1-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson in a third-round game Sunday. (Durham Herald-Sun)
