Seven Sawyers march through Carolina

When Raymond Sawyer graduates from Carolina in May, it will be the end of an era – at least for UNC’s Marching Tar Heel band and the Sawyer family. For the past 17 years, a Sawyer has played and marched in the band. “It’s one of the longest-running continuous memberships by one family I think I have seen,” says Jeff Fuchs, the director of the Marching Tar Heels.
