Roy's path to hoops Hall


AUG. 1, 1950: Born in Marion, N.C., grows up outside Asheville in Biltmore community. 1964-68: A four-year letter winner in basketball and baseball at T.C. Roberson High School; named all-county and all-conference in basketball for two seasons, all-western North Carolina in 1968. 1968: Enrolls at UNC, plays freshman basketball as walk-on; begins working four nights a week as intramural official his second semester to help pay for college.
