The Madness Begins

As a No. 8 seed, which is tied for the lowest seed for UNC in the tournament, history has been good to the Tar Heels, as the Tar Heels reached the Sweet 16 in 1990 and reached the Final Four in 2000 before losing to Florida. North Carolina has had Villanova's number overall (record of 10-4) and in the tournament, going 4-1 against Villanova in NCAA Tournament play. (Tar Heel Illustrated)
