No. 1 North Carolina used three big innings to its advantage Friday night to take the opening game of a three-game ACC series against visting Maryland, 12-4, at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels tallied three runs in the third inning and four in the fourth inning to blow the game open before adding on five runs in the seventh inning.
