Kent Emanuel entered his final start of the regular season looking for a career-best 10th win on Thursday, yet exited following the fifth inning after allowing six runs on 10 hits in No. 2 North Carolina’s 10-4 loss to No. 7 Virginia. UNC (46-7, 20-6 ACC) hoped to clinch its second-straight ACC Coastal Division title with a win over Virginia (44-8, 21-7 ACC).
