Tar Heels hoping that receivers Tate, Nicks can help provide spark for offense

There won’t be a Ferris wheel or a midway at Kenan Stadium on Saturday, but Brandon Tate still plans on opening a freak show in North Carolina’s football opener. John Shoop, the first-year offensive coordinator, calls the Tar Heels’ receivers “freaks” because of their ability, and he wants to get them the ball often. Tate is one of them, and he is expected to be in the starting lineup at receiver, along with Hakeem Nicks. (Winston-Salem Journal)
