Tar Heels about to get locked in on opponent


North Carolina is almost ready to move into the final stage of summer practice and start specific preparations for its season-opening football game. Coach Butch Davis planned to devote part of yesterday’s practice and part of each session the rest of this week to James Madison, North Carolina’s first opponent. All practices next week will be geared to preparing for the Sept. 1 opener. (Winston-Salem Journal)
