Yates' efficiency pleases Davis

North Carolina coach Butch Davis designated freshman T.J. Yates the Tar Heels' starting quarterback on Thursday. In Saturday's situational scrimmage, Yates did what his coach wanted to see. He directed the first-team offense to two consecutive 65-yard scoring drives, one on 11 plays and another on 13 snaps, Davis said. (Raleigh News & Observer)
