Davis says he may be close to picking a QB

North Carolina could name its starting quarterback today. Coach Butch Davis evaluated the candidates last night in scrimmages at Kenan Stadium in the last of two practices for the day. If Davis saw what he needed to see, he hopes to name the starter and the backup after today’s afternoon practice. And even then, Davis said, things could change before UNC’s Sept. 1 opener against James Madison. (Winston-Salem Journal)
