It was the summer of 1987, and life was good for Michael Jordan. A national player of the year while at North Carolina, M.J. was coming off his third NBA season with the Chicago Bulls, in which he averaged a rather incredible 37.1 points per game, joining Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in the history of the league to score more than 3,000 points in a season.
