Virginia Tech struck first on Saturday when Logan Thomas found Demitri Knowles behind the secondary for a 45-yard scoring strike. Virginia Tech set tight end Kalvin Cline on the right side of its formation, while fullback Sam Rogers is lined up in the H-back position on the left side. Split end Joshua Stanford lines up closest to the left sideline, but works in motion behind Knowles prior to the snap.
