Freshmen scoring powered the No. 12 North Carolina past the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Thursday evening at Carmichael Arena. Leading the Tar Heels were freshmen Stephanie Mavunga and Diamond DeShields with 20 and 21 points, respectively. Mavunga was 10-10 for the night also capturing 13 rebounds, five blocks, and three assists.
