Dean Smith's former players, family celebrate coach's Medal of Freedom


Legendary North Carolina coach Dean Smith’s family accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom on the coach’s behalf last month in a ceremony at the White House. On Saturday at halftime of the Tar Heels’ game vs. Kentucky, the team’s fans got a chance to celebrate this moment. Members of Smith’s family and some former players were on hand to celebrate Smith’s achievement. (Sporting News)
