Elijah Hood named Army’s national player of year

Charlotte Catholic running back Elijah Hood has been named the U.S. Army’s national player of the year. Hood received the award at a banquet on Friday in San Antonio, where he was preparing to play in Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Hood, who has committed to North Carolina, rushed for Mecklenburg County-records 3,690 yards and 53 touchdowns this season. The yardage ranks second in N.C. history behind West Rowan’s Kevin Parks (3,794) and the touchdown total is third highest in state history. (Charlotte Observer)
