It seemed like a mismatch between a national championship caliber team and a squad just playing out the string. But the Tar Heels had two recent wins over the Cardinal--an 87-63 shellacking in Charlotte in 1995, and a 57-49 win over a third-ranked Stanford team in the 1998 Preseason NIT--and an 8-0 all-time head-to-head mark against the Pac-10 school.
