Tar Heels rally in ninth to defeat Pirates 11-10

North Carolina made a stunning, improbable comeback last night from two runs down in the bottom of the ninth to beat East Carolina 11-10 in the winner’s bracket of the NCAA Tournament’s Chapel Hill Regional. North Carolina took advantage of the wildness of Shane Mathews, East Carolina’s ace reliever, to score three runs and snatch a victory at Boshamer Stadium. (Winston-Salem Journal)
