UNC's Peterson escapes pool for open water and championships

Weary and sore, Chip Peterson glided toward one end of his swim lane in UNC's Koury Natatorium last week, flipped over and pushed off toward the opposite wall. After a week in the ocean asserting his claim as the United States' top hope for a medal next summer in the new Olympic sport of open-water swimming, any size pool would appear small.
