200 people helped Merritt’s Store and Grill celebrate 85th anniversary


She was sitting at Merritt’s Store and Grill when Patricia Fields Neubert, a child at the time, realized what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. Merritt’s was a popular hang out for the astronauts training at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, and Fields Neubert said overhearing their lunchtime stories eventually inspired her to become a military pilot.
