Texas Rangers release Daniel Bard

The Texas Rangers ended on Thursday the attempt to revive the career of former major-league reliever Daniel Bard. Bard, 28, was unable to conquer the control problems that have sabotaged his career. With Hickory of the low Class A South Atlantic League. Bard retired only two of the 18 hitters faced. He allowed nine walks and hit seven batters.
