Detroit Lions rookie Eric Ebron may be early favorite as next team leader

Rookie tight end Eric Ebron, more than any of the Lions’ recent first-round picks, exudes the charisma and personality often found in face-of-the-locker-room types. He was out front at the NFL rookie symposium last month, leading drills and interacting with kids at a Play 60 event for Cleveland-area youth, while other members of the Lions’ draft class stayed in the background, and senior director of player development Galen Duncan said Ebron has a “natural leadership quality” the Lions are trying to nurture.
