Since he put his 42-year coaching career on hold, Brown seems to have discovered that stepping off the hamster wheel has its benefits. At 63, he looks fitter and more relaxed than during his final season in Austin. He still gets up early most days, he said, but instead of planning walk-throughs, he goes for morning walks with his wife, Sally, and he now gets to spend more time with his grandchildren.
