Butch Davis says Tar Heels are having productive workouts this spring

Several players have progressed steadily, according to Butch Davis, since practice began last month, starting with safety Trimane Goddard. Linebacker Durell Mapp needed time to grasp a defensive scheme change but this week his quickness and football instincts have led to his best week of practice. Freshman quarterback T.J. Yates, who redshirted last season, made significant improvement this week, according to Davis. (Winston-Salem Journal)
