Albany basketball signs 11-year-old with rare disease

The University at Albany added a scrappy, young fighter to its signing class Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period in college basketball. J.P. Honsinger, an 11-year-old battling childhood Alzheimer’s, put his signature on a national letter of intent and pledged his services to the squad. Albany coach Will Brown cited Honsinger’s “toughness” in a release about the signing, part of the team’s three-man recruiting class.
