UNC staying the course on defense

Look for North Carolina to go after Rutgers with the same 4-2-5 defensive scheme that has yielded unreliable results. That base package will include some wrinkles here and there, UNC coach Larry Fedora said. The Tar Heels will have a new guy in UNC cornerbacks coach Dan Disch calling the defensive plays during the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field, in Detroit, on Dec. 26.
