One player cites a lack of effort for North Carolina's defensive woes this season. Another attributes the Tar Heels' failures to poor starts that created a "shellshocked'' mentality in many games. Either way, the end result was the worst showing by a UNC defense in history that cost associate head coach for defense Vic Koenning his job earlier this month.
