UNC's mascot injured in N.J.


The UNC-Chapel Hill senior who portrays the school's Rameses mascot at Tar Heels basketball games was critically injured Friday when he was hit by a car in northern New Jersey, according to police in Fort Lee. Jason Kendall Ray, 21, of Concord was in critical condition late Friday night at Hackensack (N.J.) University Hospital, police said. Ray was in New Jersey for North Carolina's NCAA Tournament game against Southern California. (Raleigh News & Observer)
