As satisfying as the securing of a West Regional semifinal appearance felt for UNC, there were deeper emotions at work for Marcus Paige during the aftermath of Saturday’s victory. His 22 points, 20 of which were supplied in the final 14 minutes to play the leading role in subduing Arkansas, became liberating with the Tar Heels advancing past the NCAA Tournament’s round of 32, where each of their last two seasons had ended.
