1955 Wake Forest remains only ACC team to win College World Series

On the highest pedestal of college baseball, among ACC teams at least, one team stands alone. The 1955 Wake Forest Deacons have, in fact, stood alone now for 60 years as the only team from one of college baseball’s most competitive conferences to win the College World Series. “You think that makes me mad?” laughed Billy Ray Barnes, the third baseman for the Deacons that magical season.
