Bengals cut Brian Simmons

In a surprise move, the Bengals this afternoon announced the termination of the contract of long-time linebacker Brian Simmons. The move appears to be financially driven. Simmons had two years remaining on his contract and was scheduled to make base salaries of $3.3 million in 2007 and $3.7 million in 2008. (Cincinnati Enquirer)
