UNC Basketball Recruiting Week In Review
Posted Sep 20, 2015
A look back at the past week in UNC basketball recruiting.
--2016 4-star shooting guard Brandon Robinson made an official visit to UNC this weekend. He previously visited UNC in March to watch the Tar Heels play Duke.
--Roy Williams and C.B. McGrath were at Word of God Academy Tuesday 9/15 meeting with 2016 five-star shooting guard Rawle Alkins. Alkins also performed well at this weekend's Elite 75 event.
--Roy Williams visited 2016 5-star power forward Harry Giles at Oak Hill Academy on Wednesday 9/16. Giles will be moving his scheduled September 25 official visit to UNC to some time in October, according to his coach.
--Roy Williams and Hubert Davis were in Jacksonville, Florida for an in-home visit with 4-star 2016 center Udoka Azubuike on Thursday 9/17.
--2016 4-star power forward Javin DeLaurier added a Duke offer to go with his UNC offer. UNC still in DeLaurier's final 6 list of schools.
--Harrison Barnes and James Michael McAdoo will be in Chapel Hill with the NBA championship trophy during Seventh Woods' official visit the weekend of 9/26, although they are prohibited by NCAA rules from interacting with recruits.
--UNC assistant Steve Robinson watched 2016 wing Jalen Johnson on Wed 9/16 at Wesleyan Christian Academy.
--Steve Robinson was in Concord, NC on Wednesday 9/16 checking out 2018 guard Leaky Black during their open gym session. It's UNC's second viewing in two weeks. Inside Carolina also published a feature on Black last week.
--Roy Williams reportedly had a scheduled in-home visit with 2016 power forward T.J. Leaf on Monday 9/14. Not much of a chance here for UNC nor confirmation that the visit took place.
--UNC was reportedly scheduled to visit 2017 5-star power forward Mohamad Bamba for an open-gym session in Norristown, PA on Friday. Bamba has already been offered by Duke, who seems to be the leader at this point.
--UNC coaches reportedly watched Jordan Long of Berean Academy on Thursday 9/17.
--2016 5-star point guard De'Aaron Fox has eliminated UNC from consideration. Fox had been offered a scholarship by UNC.
--2016 5-star power forward Miles Bridges also dropped UNC from consideration and had held a UNC scholarship offer. Bridges is down to his final three of Michigan State, Kentucky, and Indiana.
--2016 5-star shooting guard Kobi Simmons is no longer considering UNC.
