Here in the heart of ACC country, where hoops powers Duke, North Carolina and N.C. State exist in a perpetual Cold War, the mood is more upbeat than usual. All three programs are coming into this season with momentum. Duke just won a national title. North Carolina begins the season ranked No. 1. N.C. State is somewhat under the radar, but the Wolfpack doesn’t mind.
